Our Story

From Ocean Depths to Scientific Excellence: A Legacy Since 1897

1897

A Revolutionary Principle

The story of Quinton begins with René Quinton, a distinguished French biologist, physiologist, philosopher, and military hero. In 1897, he introduced a transformative principle, suggesting that all animal life, having originated from the sea, retains its primordial internal environment. This internal milieu, according to Quinton, mirrors the temperature and salt concentrations found in the original marine surroundings, suggesting that our cells continue to thrive in a "genuine marine aquarium”, just like the primitive environment they evolved in.

1904

The Quinton Theory Takes Shape

Quinton's pioneering work led to the publication of "L’Eau de Mer, Milieu Organique" in 1904, where he laid down the scientific foundation for the therapeutic virtues of seawater. His hypothesis was that damaged cells could be rejuvenated with ocean water, a concept he rigorously tested through experiments. One notable experiment involved the complete transfusion of a dog with seawater, demonstrating remarkable recovery and survival, thereby proving the efficacy of his theory.

From Laboratory to Clinical Success

Between 1897 and 1904, Quinton worked tirelessly, conducting experiments and applying his marine treatment in clinical settings. His isotonic seawater solution, known as Quinton's Plasma, achieved miraculous results in treating a variety of desperate cases, from typhus and syphilis to hepatic cirrhosis and labor complications. Quinton's Plasma consistently saved lives, underscoring the potential of his marine therapy.

1905-1907

Pioneering Healthcare Solutions

In 1905, Quinton established his first laboratory dedicated to sterilising seawater, ensuring its safe application for therapeutic purposes. By 1907, the opening of the first Marine Dispensary in Paris marked a significant milestone, providing treatments to hundreds of children and adults daily. The success of these dispensaries led to the opening of additional locations, including a notable one in Lyon in 1913.

1925

The Quinton Legacy Continues

Following Quinton's death in 1925, his work continued to gain recognition and validation. By 1950, with the advent of more advanced clinical tools, researchers confirmed Quinton's early observations: seawater indeed encompasses all elements found on the Mendeleiev table, mirroring the composition of the human body's internal medium. This revelation underscored the therapeutic potential of seawater, aligning perfectly with Quinton's initial postulations about the natural symbiosis between the human body and the marine environment.

1996

A New Chapter Begins

The Quinton legacy was revitalised in 1996 by Joan Miquel Coll, who acquired the patent and opened new laboratories in Alicante, Spain. This revival brought Quinton therapy back into the spotlight, incorporating modern manufacturing processes while adhering to Quinton's original protocols.

2009 and Beyond

Technological Advances and Expansion

With the growth of Quinton Laboratories, a move to larger, state-of-the-art facilities in Cox (Alicante) was necessitated in 2009. Here, Quinton is produced with the utmost care, using double cold micro-filtration and avoiding heat sterilisation to preserve its natural properties. This process ensures that Quinton remains a pure, effective remedy, free from contaminants.

2022

Quinton is brought to South Africa

The introduction of Quinton to South Africa in 2022 by entrepreneurs Niko Velasco and Ike Klaassen marked a significant step in its global expansion.

By 2024, Quinton has become a household name, widely used by athletes, students, and individuals dealing with various health issues. Its broad applications underscore the connection between cellular health and overall wellness, proving Quinton's relevance in today's health-conscious society.
